Construction of the new Lord Nelson Elementary School is complete and remediation next door at the site of our old school is almost complete. After remediation they will dismantle the roof so they can repurpose the roof beams for a storage container, then they will take down the school. We're on track to install the new playground items Spring 2021.
If you've been following our progress you know the PAC has worked tirelessly to raise $200,000 for both inside and outside the school. We also obtained a grant to build a rubberized track outside the school. Then in early 2020, we received a very large contribution from the now defunct Lord Nelson out of school care. With that influx of funds we will be able to create something very special on the exterior grounds of Nelson. Below are some concept drawings and the general layout. There will be one main play structure including spinning items, a linear obstacle course as well as four fitness nodes around the track. Our New School Spend committee are working with VSB grounds to make this design a reality for our students.
